There is a possibility that a couple of Munster Season Tickets might be available next year. We therefore are looking to put together a shortlist of members who might like to buy one of these. Please send in your details by email to me. Again this is not a certainty, I have no details as yet of prices or types of tickets or locations etc but if you are generally interested contact me.

All successful applicants re Heineken Cup Ospreys match tickets will be contacted by Donal O'Boyle. This match was hugely oversubscribed so some people may be disappointed.

As part of O2's involvement in the Irish Rugby Team they have agreed to put some funds in the way of all Rugby Clubs and this as far as I can see is money for nothing for Crosshaven RFC.  Any of you who have a Mobile on the O2 network and pay for it by a bill and not prepayment can help by simply sending a text with   'RUGBY Crosshaven RFC'   to 50308  and O2 will pay 5% of your bill excluding Roaming, Premium Calls and VAT to our Club.

The Text is free and you should get a reply within a short time confirming that you are in the scheme.

Please act immediately.

6 Nations - 13/Feb/09 PDF Print E-mail

Ireland played France last Saturday in one of the best Five or Six Nations games of recent history. Ireland prevailed 30-21 and really pushed themselves forward as joint favourites with Wales for the Six Nations Championship (and possibly Grand Slam!!). All things going to plan it will be massive last match against Wales in Cardiff in March. It is back to the nitty gritty next week with an away assignment against Italy in Rome next Sunday February 15th 2009. The squad is in good health and will expect to keep the winning momentum. I invite all club members to come and watch the match in the clubhouse and enjoy the atmosphere. There are junior games (J1 and J2) on that morning in the club to provide the pre match entertainment so please come up and enjoy a day of rugby!!

Six Nations PDF Print E-mail

Ireland play France tomorrow in the big Six Nations opener in Croke Park. I hope for all members travelling to watch the match and all armchair fans that we will have the first victory of a Grand Slam to cheer about. This season is wide open with no team really standing out as the favorite, with the possible exception of Grand Slam holders, Wales. Ireland should really fancy their chances with a transitional France and out-of-sorts England at home, combined with matches away against the same ol' same Italy,a resurgent Scotland and a potential Grand Slam showdown with Wales. The following are Ireland's fixtures:

Saturday, 07 February 2009 Ireland v France, 17:00
Sunday, 15 February 2009 Italy v Ireland, 14:30
Saturday, 28 February 2009 Ireland v England, 17:30
Saturday, 14 March 2009 Scotland v Ireland, 17:00
Saturday, 21 March 2009 Wales v Ireland, 17:30

Best of luck to Ireland tomorrow!!!!!

Colaiste Muire played bandon Grammar last Tuesday week and were narrowly beaten by 2 points. Crosshaven were unlucky to have a try disallowed when Luke O'Donnell was adjudged to have crossed the dead ball line before touching down. Anthony St. Leger was taken to CUH with a neck injury sustained 10 minutes into the first half, but fortunately no serious damage done. Hope he gets well soon. A great performance from the lads in only their second match. Congrats to all involved.
