Cobh 23 - Crosshaven 0
Crosshaven had an unprecedented number of injuries which contributed in a large way to the margin of loss in this Munster Junior League match. Some long running injuries together with some players pulling out just before kick off. Crosshaven did not help themselves with some poor discipline in the first half. Two penalties from some individual's "misbehaviour" together another two resulted in a 12-0 halftime lead for Cobh. A Cobh try in the second half killed the game off and Crosshaven were consigned to their third league defeat of the season. One can only assume that the nothing nature of the match combined with injuries to almost half of the first team led to Cobh prevailing. But credit due to Cobh who can only play the team in front of them and that they did well - remember the match was a bit of a nothing match for them also. I suppose it just disappointing that with such a local rivalry that we did not compete a bit better.

The league is effectively over with Cashel winning the title again with some matches to spare. It leaves Crosshaven in no mans land, with a couple of dead rubber matches left (including the Cobh one) to play. It was another lowpoint in the season and the last month has been a tough one for the team with losses in the league and AIB Cup. Again though it has to be repeated that there is a lot left to play for. The Junior Cup second round against Richmond is due to be played next Sunday March 1st 2008 away in Richmond kicking off at 2.30pm. The final of the Munster Junior Clubs Challenge Cup against Cashel has also been arranged for Sunday March 15th at 2.30pm with the venue yet to be confirmed. So this is a massive week for the J1s - either the season can take off again with some cup wins and some silverware or it can continue on its downward trend. The season hinges on a crucial couple of games............
