Ballincollig 11 - Crosshaven 12 The J2s had a marvellous away win against Ballincollig in the semi final of the O'Sullivan Cup on Sunday September 27th 2009. Crosshaven won by 12 points to 11 in dramatic circumstances. Ballincollig would be considered a strong J2 side having reached the semi finals of the South Munster Junior 2 league for the last two years. This is a great win for the lads who have performed strongly this year to date losing only to Bantry in a weather affected fixture. Some good, enterprising backs play has been a mark of Crosshaven's play this year to date and so it was again. The scores for Crosshaven came from Guillanme Lereun and Chris Lordan with Ken O'Halloran adding a conversion. Crosshaven held a 12-6 lead late in the game and were under huge pressure late on from Ballincollig who eventually scored a try. Fortunately for Crosshaven the try went unconverted and we held on to win. The final of the O'Sullivan Cup Final is to be played against Clonakilty, but there is no date for this yet as the league is starting up. Next Sunday October 4th the J2s host Cobh Pirates in Crosshaven with the kick off at 12 midday. Please come and support the team in the first league match of the year.
