The J2s suffered a further close defeat by Carrigaline at home on Sunday morning in a close match. Both teams were evenly matched and Crosshaven went ahead with two early penalties. Playing with the wind in the first half Crosshaven could not capitalise on some early dominance apart from the penalties. Carrigaline responded well and scored two tries, one after some good lineout work and one from a quick tap penalty which Crosshaven could and maybe should have prevented.

They led 10 - 6 at half time. Turning into the wind, all hopes of a comeback were crushed when Crosshaven missed a penalty to touch from their own 22 and the Carrigaline winger ran in the try to put them further ahead. The rest of the match was pretty even with neither side threatening much. Carrigaline's bigger squad and obvious training was the major difference. One felt that Carrigaline could have raised their game if required also. It is disappointing to lose a local derby, but Crosshaven will have a chance at revenge when playing Carrigaline later in the season.

Its the league again next Sunday away to Cobh Pirates. The team needs to buckle down and put a more co ordinated effort in against a strong Cobh side.
