Crosshaven J2s got their league campaign off to a great start with a hard fought victory over Sundays Well in Myrtleville Cross on Sunday October 3rd 2010. In perfect playing conditions Crosshaven started well with consistent first half pressure resulting in 3 Kenny Donovan penalties. Crosshaven went close to scoring a couple of times in the first half but were met with determined Sundays Well defence. Thanks to Donovan's penalties Crosshaven were 9-0 up at half time.
The second half was equally as close with Sundays Well having a period of sustained pressure on Crosshaven's line. A score here would have really have brought the Well back into contention but Crosshaven's defence held firm without conceding points. Crosshaven then raised their game and after a series of attacks and scrums on the Well line, Andrew Harrington scored the crucial try to effectively kill the game off. The Well scored a late breakaway consolation try but the victory was Crosshaven's.The league continues this weekend with a local derby away to Carrigaline.
