A return to winning ways for the U13’s in the opening match of South Munster Section 2 league. Although home advantage was ceded to Cobh Pirates, a vibrant team performance secured a convincing 40-5 point win for Crosshaven. An early opening try for Cobh was as good as it got for a valiant Pirate team. Crosshaven came back powered by a cohesive forward pack led by the excellent Bryan O’Connor at No.8 with back line cutting edge from the speedster Oisin Conway getting a large haul of 4 try’s from fullback, with Tim Marron at centre and scrum half Alex Pope, capping a fine overall display, both touching down also. This was backed up by astute kicking with 5 conversions and game management from Josh Hogan at outhalf.

The old proverb of forwards winning matches, backs dictating the score, rang through as the pack secured and retained possession through multiple phases with Matthew O’Connor, Sam Lawlor, Mark O'Regan, Eric Lodge, Jamie Murphy and Jason Fehily who was making his debut to the fore. When the pressure came on very late in the second half it was brave last ditch tackling from the dynamic Alexander Callinan and Conway denying Cobh a consolation score. Others who tackled and carried well in the back line were Taylor Neaves and Aaron Daunt. Notwithstanding this victory, a lot of work is still required at training.

Next league match is at home against Midleton on Mar 12th/13th.   New players always welcome to training every Wednesday at 7pm.
