The U15s travelled to Lansdowne missing their regular out-half, inside centre and tighthead prop. But the reorganised back line, along with an outstanding display from the forwards never looked like losing this one. Crosshaven opened the scoring after a sweeping back line move and fast recycling saw loose head Dominic Kiely go over in the corner. Sam Crumplin's conversion attempt bounced off the cross bar, for a five nil lead.
The rest of the half saw a great display of driving forward play and solid defence from the midfield, number eight Luke O'Donnell and second row Connor Dunne were causing all sorts of problems for the College, and captain and centre, Donal kiely's tackling was outstanding. After the break, CBC renewed their efforts and were rewarded with a try close to the sticks but the conversion was missed, this seemed to spur Crosshaven to even greater efforts and after Sam Crumplin re-started to the backs the lads found themselves with a line out in the CBC 22. Again quick recycling saw Luke O'Donnell go in for a try to the left of the posts. This time Sam slotted the ball for a 12 to 10 lead. Crosshaven were unlucky not to score again, and were threatening the CBC line for the next ten minutes. With time almost up CBC were attacking strongly in the Crosshaven 22, but a huge effort from centres Donal Kiely and Sam Murphy saw Crosshaven awarded their first (and only!) penalty of the match, for holding on the ground. Donal kicked to touch and the ref blew up. This was a great victory against a determined CBC side, and all of the lads should be proud of themselves. Next Saturday the U15s have their first home game of the season against Dunmanway time TBA, and all support would be appreciated.
