The under 19 team had a great win away to Sundays Well in the Semi Final of the South Munster league. The win avenged the first home defeat the lads suffered after their very successful season in 2009. A very tense opening half where Crosshaven had to battle a strong 'Well pack saw both teams head for half time with 6 points each, Crosshavens points from two Cian Mc Govern penalties, the Well with a penalty and a somewhat dubious 'Drop' goal.
The second half Crosshaven had the advantage of the slope on the Musgrave park back pitch, and with a tiring Well pack eventually the strength throughout the Crosshaven 15 began to show.
Darren O'Keeffe was able to latch on a favourable bounce from a well placed kick from Stephen O'Mahony to score under the posts 10 minutes into the second half, Cian added the extra points. After sustained pressure on the Well line Cian Mc Govern showed excellent skill to finish after selling a 'show'n'go' which left the well defence flat footed to finish in the corner, adding the extra points put the tie beyond question.
The win earns the lads a chance to gain revenge for the Cup defeat to Highfield last year. No details on the date for the final.
