The U-18 girls made an attempt to play Corca Dhuibhne on January 17th 2009 but due to the severe storm on the day only 10 minutes were played before the Ref abandoned the game.

The U-16 also were unable to play their match against St. Mary’s on January 24th 2009 as the pitch was unplayable.

The U-16 did however manage to play away to Fermoy last Saturday February 7th 2009 but due to the small numbers on both sides the game was played as a 7s match. Crosshaven did dominate the game in the early stages as they tried hard to run the ball wide a number of times but were caught by the narrow pitch and a strong Fermoy defence. Fermoy had some fine big forwards who soon took charge of the game and despite Crosshaven’s outstanding tackling efforts they struggled to regain ball once Fermoy had position. The Crosshaven girls did have a few close calls at getting a try but were beaten each time by the might of the Fermoy girls. Final score 30-0.

A number of the U-18s have made the Munster Panel and are training at various locations around the province at the moment trying for a place on the team.

On March 9th 2009 we hope to have girls from 1st, 2nd, & 3rd years from Carrigaline Community School and Scoil Mhuire Crosshaven join us at the club for about 3 hours to introduce them to rugby. The morning will be run by members of the Munster branch who hopefully by the end of the session will have encouraged a number of girls to join the club

Training continues on Wednesday evenings at 7pm and Saturday mornings at 10am if a match is not being played. As always anyone interested in playing please come along  on the above times.

The next matches will be Saturday February 21st 2009 U-16 against Clanwilliam at home and Saturday February 28th 2009 the U-18s play Bandon away.
